Dr. Ron Bowman is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with more than 30 years of clinical experience, with particular expertise in complex shoulder and knee conditions and broad experience in the evaluation, treatment, and causation of general orthopedic injuries.

For more than 20 years, Dr. Bowman has served as Chair of the Oregon Workers’ Compensation Medical Advisory Committee, where he has guided evidence-based review of treatment standards, clinical guidelines, and policy issues affecting injured workers, employers, and insurers statewide. This role has given him a deep, practical understanding of Workers’ Compensation systems and the intersection of medical judgment and legal standards.

In addition to surgical practice, Dr. Bowman regularly performs independent medical evaluations, conducts comprehensive record reviews, and provides expert testimony. His medicolegal opinions are grounded in objective analysis, careful assessment of medical probability and causation, and clear, well-reasoned communication, applied consistently regardless of referral source.

A native Oregonian, Dr. Bowman was raised on a family wheat farm in Northeast Oregon.  He completed his medical training in Portland and practiced as a small community Orthopedic Surgeon in Eastern Oregon for 13 years before returning to Portland in 2003.  This background has shaped a practical, grounded approach to both patient care and medical legal evaluation, informed by experience in rural and metropolitan practice environments. ​ Dr. Bowman practices primarily in Oregon and is available throughout the greater Pacific Northwest with advance notice.
